Search Engine Blowback in China: the Google Hack
In the mid-December hack on Google's corporate infrastructure that allegedly originated in China, an unknown attacker filched significant intellectual property from the search engine giant. After an investigation, it appears the perps infiltrated dozens of human rights activists' gmail accounts in the U.S., China, and Europe.Yesterday, David Drummond, Google's Chief Legal Officer, issued a statement on the company's official blog that they will "carefully monitor conditions in China" and that they "are no longer willing to continue censoring [their] results on Google.cn."
