Chasing Muses: Two Strangers Meet, Launch New Online Arts & Culture Magazine
HARTFORD, CT – March 9, 2009.
April 2006, Boston. Amidst living statues and lollipop goth girls, a Dresden Dolls concert would be the last place you'd expect two men to forge a creative partnership.
Robert Frigault, a marketing executive, responded to an ad for an extra ticket that Ryan O'Connor placed on CraigsList.org. O'Connor recalls saying, "You'll never believe how I ended up here."
He explained the strange series of interactions he'd had with a young woman, a fan of the band, who had, as he found out the night before the concert, been using these interactions to inspire her online artwork.
"I can top that," said Frigault, who'd recently organized "Feed the Nerdy," an event for brilliant, socially awkward people. One of the "nerdy," a young neuroscientist (and fan of the band,) had implored Frigault to propose over 100 times. When he finally did, she refused.
This meeting resulted in nthWORD.com. The online magazine brings together the literary and visual art communities and features writers and artists who've appeared in the New York Times, Esquire, and Salon.com.
Since its launch on March 3 rd nthWORD.com has received over 10,000 page views and 1,300 unique visitors, no small accomplishment for two guys chasing their muse.
